8 Days Masai Mara/Lake Nakuru /Samburu/Naivasha/Amboseli

DAY 1: NAIROBI/ MASAI MARA

After breakfast join the rest of the participants. After safari briefing at our offices, depart at 08:15hrsfor Masai Mara and drive north ascending the Great Rift Valley for a breathtaking views and photography.

 

The Rift Valley was formed millions of years ago. Stretching some 5,000 miles from Jordan to Mozambique, it’s the largest Rift on Earth.

Descend the escarpment and drive to Narok-town where you will stop for early hot-lunch. Proceed to Masai Mara after lunch arriving in good time to your camp. After checking-into your camp, freshen-up then go for an introductory game viewing drive.

Masai Mara is famous for its black manned lions and yearly migration of wildebeests and the big-five.

DAY 2: MASAI MARA – WHOLE DAY TO EXPLORE THE MAGIC OF MARA

After breakfast, go for a full day of game viewing-drive across the rich savannah grassland and rolling hills. The famous Mara is renowned for its great herds of plain game, black-manned lions, leopard and cheetah but also contains numerous elephants and virtually every type of wildlife to be found here in the Mara. Picnic lunches will be served at the Hippo pools and dinner and overnight at either

DAY 3: MASAI MARA -NAKURU

Early breakfast at the Hotel/lodge later leave masai mara for Nakuru National Park The landscape surrounding Lake Nakuru includes areas of marsh and grasslands alternating with rocky cliffs and outcrops, stretches of acacia woodland and rocky hillsides covered with a euphorbia forest on the eastern perimeter. Arriving late in the evening.

Lake Nakuru National Park is also home to the Kenyan Rhino Conservation Project – and so is an excellent place to see rhino. The best view of the lake is from Baboon Cliffs. Set on a plateau in the Rift Valley, overlooking one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles. The panoramic view from the hill reveals a shimmering pink glow across the Lake, created by millions of flamingos, pelicans and marabou storks; the landscape blossoms natural foliage and a startling variety of flower gardens.

DAY 4: LAKE NAKURU TO SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
Early Morning breakfast followed by game drive at the Lake, late after lunch leave Nakuru for Samburu  National Park  Lunch will be served on your way to Samburu .  Afternoon game viewing drives in the game reserve.

Samburu National Reserve A place of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, Samburu National Reserve lies on the fringes of the vast and arid desert once known as the Northern Frontier District, whose heat-scorched scrublands extend all the way to the jade-green waters of Lake Turkana and beyond. Physically dramatic, the 104 sq kilometre landscape of the Reserve features rocky battlements, craggy scarps, dry river beds and fallen boulders rising out of the thorn scrub against a backdrop of the far-distant hills and the great red table mountain known as Lololokwi. As for wildlife, Samburu provides one of the few sanctuaries in Kenya for the endangered Grevy’s zebra, the rare beisa oryx and the blue-shanked Somali ostrich whilst large herds of elephant roam the gaunt hills during the day before returning to bathe on the banks of the river in the evening.

DAY 5: SAMBURU GAME RESERVE
After breakfast morning and afternoon game viewing drive in the Samburu game reserve. The surrounding terrain is renowned for rare game, -long necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, and the Beisa Oryx. Leopard is the frequent passer-by. Game drives and bird watching safaris are the ideal way to experience the native wildlife in its natural splendor.  Meals and overnight stay at Sopa lodge (B, L, D),

DAY 6: SAMBURU TO NAIVASHA

Breakfast at the lodge/camp. This morning depart by road from Samburu to Lk. Naivasha passing via the Nyahururu Water Falls (Thompson Falls – commonly known as the T-falls!) stopping briefly. Naivasha is a Masai name given to the area where the resort is located, denoting the characteristics of the lake including size and its tendency to roughness when windy. The history of the area has always been important as it formed the main route of the slave trade from Uganda and the highlands of Kenya, including in 1884, the Scottish explorer Joseph Thompson’s epic journey through Masai land – where he writes in his journals of his time in Naivasha.

DAY 7: NAIVASHA –AMBOSELI

 

Today, around the shores of either of the Rift Valley Lakes NaivashaVisit the lake optional activities like boat ride are done here. After lunches proceed to Amboseli National park afternoon game drive is guaranteed here.

Dinner and overnight stay at Kibo Lodge or Similar  (B,L, D)

 

 

DAY 8: AMBOSELI -NAIROBI
Morning breakfast, proceed for game viewing drive en route back to Nairobi , Drop you at the airport to catch your flight to Zanzibar or connect a public bus to  Mombasa or go to Mombasa by train at your own
